Noda Review
A very good effort from this company with Aladdin and very good set designs and costumes in the companies second Pantomime.
The casting of the pantomime in the main was very good and gave continued success to the society also with a very funny script it all worked so well.
The characters of Aladdin and Princess Jasmine played by Jade Eden and Abigail Sissons were very enthusiastic and carried the story along so well. Nice singing here as well.
I really enjoyed the energy and commitment of Jackie Walker as Wishee Washee.A great feel for the part and her sense of timing was very good.
Flung Dung was also fun from Kathy Ellis who had a good rapport with the audience.
Tim Burrettt as the narrator appeared every so often to keep the audience up to date with the progress of events in a very “genial” manner.
I must commend the set design and painting team,it was a huge part in the standard of the show and looked so good.
I found Widow Twankey played by David Lye rather underplayed in this character, beautifully dressed and great dialogue, but at times rather quiet and quite difficult to hear. With this character OTT is really expected and flamboyant in the extreme.
Trish Hunter as the Genie of the Lamp was a hoot!Even Rapping as well!!Trish got so involved and had a real sense of comedy in this character.Well done the audience loved it.
The Slave of the Ring and Abanazer played by Jackie Fairweather and Graham Tippett all added support to the production.
One request I would like to make is to try to project the words both in dialogue and singing as much as possible. Here and there these were not clear and are very important for the audience to understand and to keep up with the storyline.
The society should be complimented in the overall good standard in production which was noticeable.
Well done to Fred as Director and to cast and crew and all involved in any way.
Thank you for your hospitality and warm welcome which is appreciated, and very best wishes for your productions in 2017 which I look forward to.
