A very amusing play by Ron Aldridge which originally starred Brian Murphy of “George & Mildred” as “Brooksie”, and was the second production by this new NODA group.

Set in the home of Sue & Richard played by Justine Smith and Jeff Bray, who were awaiting the arrival home of “Gordon “(Brooksie) after a late night rave up.

The surprise was “Brooksie” was not a teenager, but Sue’s Dad.A rebel in his old age.

David Lye did well in his leather jacket and rock and roll attitude.His expressions when being chastised by his daughter and son in law was rather like a sulky teenager,and tended to be repetitive throughout the production.

Justine Smith as Sue was feisty,looked comfortable on stage, and together with Jeff Bray (her husband) their dialogue flowed and was effective.

Tom “Brooksie’s” best mate with Barry Carder was awaiting his pending marriage but with second thoughts, and together with Bridget Gregory as Julia,his intended,created some very funny moments.

Newcomer Kathy Ellis playing Rose, had a very easy pleasant feel to her character and did extremely well in her debut with the group.

Grace,the dear departed wife of “Brooksie” who came back into his thoughts, and played by Trish Hunt again another new member of the cast,  shows promise for future productions.

There was a tendency with some of the dialogue and story line going in a rather expected way, and therefore no huge surprises with variation in pace.

I must credit each and every cast member for going ahead with this production with the sad circumstances of the Directors sudden passing.I am sure that Ron would have been very proud of the production and it was a brave decision to perform the show in Ron’s memory.

A very pleasant afternoon with the company and friends who I hope will continue with more productions in the future.
